Social Hobart.

Posting isn’t a strategy. We’ll tell you if you don’t need this. Straight talk on what it costs.

Ask us straight

This might not be your problem.

Odd way to open a page selling social media. Here’s why we do it.

Most Hobart businesses that ring us about social don’t have a social problem. They have a “nobody can find us” problem, and someone has told them the answer is three posts a week.

If people are already searching for what you sell, a feed is the slowest, most expensive way to reach them. Fix the finding first.

Social earns its place when you need people to want something before they go looking for it. That’s a real job, and when it’s your job we’re good at it.

When it’s worth it.

It works when you sell something people buy on impulse, on looks, or on trust built up over time. Food, venues, retail, trades with visible before-and-afters, anything with a human face on the front of it.

It works when you’re new and nobody knows you exist yet.

It works when your competitors are all shouting and silence looks like you’ve closed.

It does not work as a substitute for a website that converts, and it does not work as a substitute for being findable on Google. If that’s where you are, we’ll say so on the first call and point you at the thing that will.

What we actually do.

  1. A reason to post before a posting schedule

What are we trying to make someone think, and then do. Without that, a content calendar is just a chore with dates on it.

  2. Content shot here

Your team, your work, your van, your street. Stock photography of someone else’s business fools nobody in a town this size.

  3. Paid campaigns built around sales

Reach and engagement are the metrics agencies report when sales aren’t happening.

  4. Replies, not just posts

A question left sitting in your inbox for a week costs more than a bad post ever will.

  5. The right two platforms

Not all six. Most Hobart businesses need Facebook and Instagram done properly, and nothing else.

  6. Reporting you can read

What it cost, what it brought in, what we’d change. No vanity metrics.

The platforms we run.

Most Hobart businesses need the first two and nothing else. If that’s you, we’ll say so.

What you’ll actually spend.

Two numbers, and they are not the same. Ad spend goes to Meta. A management fee comes to us. You’ll always see both, separately, on paper.

Organic posting is cheaper in cash and far more expensive in time. Someone has to take the photos, write the words and answer the messages, every week, forever. Usually that someone is you.

Paid social is faster and more measurable. It also stops the day you stop paying, which is the honest trade.

No lock-in contract. If we’re not earning it, leave.

Hobart is a small room.

You can reach most of greater Hobart on social for the price of a decent lunch. That’s the upside of a small market and almost nobody uses it properly.

The downside is that everyone can see everything. Thin content, a dead account, a complaint left unanswered for a fortnight. It’s all visible, and in a town this size it gets talked about.

A lot of buying here still starts in a Facebook group with someone asking for a recommendation. Being the name that gets mentioned is worth more than any campaign we could run for you.

We’re up the road. We know which rooms matter.

Questions we get asked.

  • How much does social media marketing cost?

Management and ad spend are separate, and you’ll see both. The bigger cost is usually content. Someone has to keep producing it. We’ll be straight with you about whether the return justifies either.

  • Is Instagram still worth it in 2026?

For some businesses, very much. For others it stopped being worth it years ago and nobody told them. It depends on whether your customers are there and whether they buy the kind of thing you sell from a feed.

  • How many times a week should I post?

Fewer than you’ve been told, better than you’ve been posting. Three good posts a month beats twelve filler ones, and the algorithm agrees.

  • Can you just run the ads and leave the posting to us?

Yes, and for a fair few clients that’s the sensible split. You know your business and your photos are better than ours. We’ll handle the targeting and the money.

  • Do I need social media at all?

Possibly not. If people are already searching for what you sell, your money goes further on search. We’d rather tell you that than take a retainer for something that won’t work.

Think people are already searching for you? Start with SEO or Google Ads instead.

Is It Worth It?

Tell us what you’re actually trying to fix and we’ll tell you whether social is the thing that fixes it.

Quite often it isn’t, and we’ll point you at what is. No lock-in contract either way.

Or just call us.

For companies and individuals who do not understand what SEO is or the importance that digital presence plays in today's society and the success of their business, they need to talk to Aaron and Tom at Wally.

Clear and concise explanations in a world filled with the mumbo jargon of the ever changing landscape of SEO algorithms.

To put it bluntly, you would do yourself and your business a total disservice if you didn't speak to the Wally team. They do not lock you into long term contracts and they have a simple goal of wanting you and your business to succeed.

I've worked with Aaron for nearly 10 years now, and have always found him to be very approachable on a personal level, and his results speak for themselves with our business sales and growth. He helped us through a tricky transition period when our business situation changed, and went above and beyond to support us going forward, and we haven't looked back!

We contacted Aaron last year when our Google business listing was virtually unfindable.

Previous attempts to improve our seo and boost our listing with other services had been unsuccessful but after meeting with Aaron and his team we knew we were in capable hands.

Their communication was clear and efficient, and they were able to tailor a professional website to our budget and needs.

Best of all our listing shot to the top three in a matter of months converting to more job leads.

I would recommend their services to anyone looking to grow their business
